Word Art Competition

In 2012 we are excited to be running a new ‘Text and Image’ course with Graham Rawle and Margaret Huber. In honour of the course we are also running a competition which invites you to create your own ‘word artwork’, to win an Arvon week of your choice (worth over £600).
Deadline: 5pm Friday 18 May 2012
All you have to do is come up with your own combination of creative writing and visual imagery – it could be a poem in fridge magnets, a collage of words from a newspaper, a Photoshop blend of text and image, a photograph of words in the sand... we leave it to your imagination! Then submit a digital image of the artwork by 5pm 18 May 2012.
The winning entry will be chosen by writer and collage artist Graham Rawle and will be based on the quality of both the writing and its visual interpretation. Both the writing and artwork must be your own work, although a writer can partner with a visual artist and submit together.
Submission details:
Submit your image as a jpg to wordartcompetition@arvonfoundation.org
Your image file must be a maximum of 1MB.
You can submit a maximum of five images.
The writing must be your own work, but the photograph or image can be made by somebody else.
If you submit an image, you are consenting for us to display the image on our website and on the Arvon Flickr page. Only selected images will be displayed.
The competition is open to people in any country.
By entering your photograph into the competition, you grant to Arvon the non-commercial non-exclusive right to use your images for promotion of the competition and for promotion of the competition in any media
The winner will receive gift vouchers to the value of £655. These are non-exchangeable.
If the artwork has been created by more than one person, gift vouchers to the total of one course will be issued and can be shared.
We will inform the winner by 28 May 2012 and publish the result on our website. We will not be notifying all those who enter of the result.
