LIFE WRITING

What is true?

Biography presents itself as a record of real lives, but how is this achieved? This course will deal with the practical work of writing a biography: approaching the subject, planning the book, getting access, using published sources and conducting interviews. We will consider setting the scene and making characters come alive and approach the subject not by theory but by example, using existing texts to demonstrate.
