Working Towards a First Collection - Selected
This course is aimed at students approaching a first collection who are either looking for extra polish on their poems or for tips in assembling a manuscript. Mixing practical writing sessions with discussion we will examine the process of gathering poems, concentrating upon such elements as revision, editing, ordering and titling.
To apply submit four poems and a writing CV electronically by April 1 2009. Please ensure you either include your full contact details and room preference with your electronic application or send a completed booking form by post.

Matthew Hollis’ poetry collections include Ground Water, which was short-listed for the Forward Poetry Prize (Best First Collection) and the Guardian First Book Award. He is currently a poetry editor at Faber & Faber.
Clare Pollard’s latest poetry collection is Look, Clare! Look! She recently co-edited the new writing anthology Voice Recognition and her play, The Weather, was performed at the Royal Court Theatre.
Neil Rollinson’s latest collection is Demolition. He has won the National Poetry Competition, received a Cholmondeley Award, held an RLF Fellowship and has been Writer-in-residence at the Wordsworth Trust and Manchester University.
