Writing for Radio

Taking the Written Word to the Air

With an emphasis on drama and poetry, this course is designed for writers with a keen interest in radio and a desire to take their writing beyond the confines of the printed page and bring it alive on the air. For new authors and those who have some experience who wish to explore the possibilities of writing for radio. A sound engineer from Resonance FM will be available this week.

Simon Armitage

Simon Armitage’s dramatisation of The Odyssey was originally commissioned by the BBC and his translation of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight was read on Radio 4 by Sir Ian McKellan. Sue Roberts has worked for the BBC for over twenty years and is the executive producer for BBC Radio Drama in the North. She was the co-founder of the Write Out Loud scheme and has won many awards for her work, including the Sony Gold award in 2007.
