Poetry

Real images, magic ingredients

Are there certain ‘magic ingredients’ that make a poem work? What is it about particular images that cause them to lodge themselves in the reader’s mind? Using a combination of exercises and plenty of contemporary examples, we will not only attempt to answer these questions, but will also look at ways of spinning the clutter of our everyday lives into lively, imaginative and memorable poems.
