Philip was brought up by the sea. He went to York university to read books and helped run the marvellous Little Apple bookshop on Sundays. A failed attempt at a TEFL in Berlin, a blip in a windowless south London Waterstone's, and interesting times in an architectural preservation charity led Philip to become Arvon's team administrator in 2004 and, just recently, Friends Coordinator.
