Heard of Arvon and want to know more? Curious about Comedy Writing? Hesitating over Historical Fiction? If you're wondering whether to do an Arvon course in 2010 or beyond, this free open evening is for you.
Drop in at Arvon's new central London home, Free Word, between 6.30pm and 8.00pm on Thursday 18 March. We'll be recreating the unique countryside environment of an Arvon writing house - right here in Farringdon. Relax in our Arvon kitchen, enjoy some sweet treats provided by course tutor Yotam Ottolenghi, and chat to a Centre Director about getting a grant. Alternatively, just enjoy a glass of wine in the urban garden and dream of getting away from it all to your own writing haven.
Some special guest writers, all of whom are tutoring Arvon courses this year, will be reading during the evening. Hear work in progress from Alexei Sayle, Cherry Smyth, Colette Bryce, Karen McCarthy and Courttia Newland.
It's a kind of potted Arvon, all in one evening! What's more, Arvon virgins will have a chance to win a free course and experience Arvon for the first time.
Evie Wyld and Kate Potts will be running one-to-one surgeries in poetry and fiction at the event. (Please note, surgeries are now fully booked and unfortunately no further places will be available on the night.)
