International students

The Arvon Foundation welcomes people on our writing courses from all over the world.
We positively encourage it!

The experience of living and working as a writer, as well as eating together with people from every conceiveable part of the world, from different backgrounds and outlooks is one of the key ingredients of the Arvon Magic. International students add yet another touch of magic to your work and your experience.

Last year we welcomed people from countries as diverse as  Singapore, Germany, India, the United States of America, Australia,  Spain, and China

One of the ways in which people come to us is through competitions organised by the British Council.

Every year, in association with the British Council India and the Charles Wallace Trust, the winner of the Unison Creative Writing Competition in India is offered a place at The Arvon Foundation on our courses open to the general public.

Last year’s winner was Ashwin Gowriker, who came on a Starting to Write Course Tobias Hill and Bernadine Evaristo at The Ted Hughes’ Arvon Centre at  Lumb Bank.
