I have always wanted to write stories but had difficulty finding the opportunity. An Arvon course was therefore ideal since it involved me getting away from my environment and focussing on writing.
Lumb Bank is in an easy to reach spot and a beautiful setting that is conducive to writing. The course itself covered prose and poetry with a professional tutor, for each area. During the day the alternating sessions complemented each other well. During the evenings there were group readings with a guest speaker on Wednesday night.
On the whole, the course was helpful with constructive support from the tutors and fellow students. The individual feedback on my written work was invaluable giving me insights on how to edit.
Going to Lumb Bank was an enjoyable break from my routine. It gave me the opportunity to meet friendly and like-minded people. It gave me a much needed boost to my desire to write. I would recommend an Arvon course to anyone trying to find inspiration.
