Matt Thorne has provided the opening paragraph of a witty fictional scenario, and t is up to you to carry on the spark! Submit his paragraph with your continuation to the Fiction Anthology.

 

I watch her feet in gladiator sandals, moving beneath the door of the changing room, as she keeps repositioning herself while trying things on.
 “Did you know people in Luxembourg speak Luxembourgish.”
 “What?  That’s not true.”
 “It is.  Not all of them.  Some of them speak German.  Some of them speak French.  But Luxembourgish is their third official language.”
 “OK…”
 “Did you know that people in Luxembourg drink more alcohol than anywhere in the world?”
 “But I thought Luxembourg was a small country.”
 “It is.  I’m not talking about them collectively.  I’m talking about them individually.  According to the Guinness Book of Records in 2003 every single citizen consumed 12.6 litres of pure alcohol.”
 “In the whole year?”
 “No, every day I think.”
 She comes out holding the three dresses she went in with.  One is gold with a blue trim, the other is black, the other is pink.  “That can’t be right.  Surely you’d die if you drank that much every day.”
 “You’re right, it does sound a lot.  But it can’t be per year, can it?  12.6 litres a year doesn’t sound very much.  Surely people in Scotland drink more than that.  What did you think of the dresses?”
 “I’m going to buy the black one.”
