Arvon Jobs
Arvon is currently seeking an external evaluator for it's pioneering bi-lingual creative writing programme (M)other Tongues. (M)other Tongues has been developed with funding support from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and the pilot of Mother Tongues has so far benefited 48 young people from Lambeth's Portuguese and Yoruba community language groups.
Between May 2012 and May 2013 four new groups will take part in (M)other Tongues and we are currently aiming to work with young people who speak Somali, Roma, Lithuanian and a Mirpuri Pakistani language from across the UK.
Each language group will participate in a week-long creative writing residential with two professional bi-lingual writers as well as a series of in-school and online workshops and a celebratory event. During this period we will also train and develop writers to deliver bilingual/multilingual creative writing projects, and work to sustain practice by delivering INSET training to EAL and other teaching staff in secondary schools.
We are looking for an experienced evaluator to evaluate the project against 6 key outcomes.
1. A robust, replicable model to support bi-lingualism through creative writing
2. Development of a community of practice in partnership with educators, writers and creative writing and literature organizations
3. Development of young people’s understanding of, and confidence in, their own learning and writing ability
4. Improved educational achievement and social skills for young people with a dual heritage background
5. Development of writers skills in creative facilitation with you young people
6. Greater Community Cohesion
