Your Partnership Week
Arvon works closely with partners to tailor courses for each specific group and all courses include group workshops and one-to-one tutorials for every participant.
A brilliant experience with first class tutors, very hospitable atmosphere and setting and professionally done to the letter.
Participant, Vita Nova
We match experienced, professional writers to the requirements of your group, in any writing genre and across all forms. Courses can encompass a wide range of genres, including poetry, short stories, writing for TV, journalism, song and playwriting.
Some of the people who come on partnership courses are from disadvantaged and socially deprived backgrounds and have never considered themselves to be writers, let alone engaged with the power of the written word.
The experience of coming on an Arvon course at one of our houses can be life changing – not only for participants' writing, but also for the chance to step away from their daily lives, give them time to reflect and to use their imaginations, living as a close knit writing community.
Some go on to become published writers, showing how Arvon finds and encourages new voices from all walks of life.
For example, Jade Amoli Jackson, who came on a partnership course with Freedom from Torture in 2007 won the Decibel Penguin Prize for new writers from African, Caribbean and Asian backgrounds and was published in a Penguin anthology – New Voices from a Diverse Culture.
Arvon can in certain instances assist with funding thanks to the generosity of individuals, companies, trusts and foundations.
