The mentors for the 2011-2012 Jerwood / Arvon Mentoring Scheme are poet Daljit Nagra, novelist Maria McCann, and playwright Nell Leyshon. This will be the third and final year of the programme which is open for applications from writers who attended a tutored Arvon course in 2010.
This unique opportunity enables nine talented writers to receive guidance and support over 12 months from these most inspiring of mentors, three in each of the genres of Fiction, Poetry and Playwriting.
The year of mentoring started in March 2011 when the selected mentees were given invaluable time and space to write by attending a tutored Masterclass Residency at The Hurst, Shropshire. The formal programme will conclude with a return to The Hurst in February 2012 for a Writing Retreat to fine-tune new works to be showcased in an anthology to be published in June 2012.
